Technologies for Integrating Augmented Reality Internet-of-Things (AR-IOT) System

Speaking about identification of objects, one of the most popular method is to tag a digital identify to the object through the use of optical codes. Optical codes may either be in any one of the form – ID barcodes, QR codes, digital water marking. Upon in working these codes resolve to service point URL. Optical codes carry a big advantage of cost effectiveness in deploying and also the ability to read a device by a webcam. The disadvantages of applying optical codes is two – fold: first one is that optical codes necessitate, a transparent line of sight, second one is that optical codes possess, limited operating rage. Generally, QP code is 1/10th of the distance spanned by scanning. By employing optical codes along with augmented reality devices such as smart – glass, improved advantages such hands – free working and improved user friendliness can be achieved smart products in the market are coming with an in – built feature of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and integration of Wifi. This features greatly aids in device management using a smartphone. When a tag is physically attached to an object Bluetooth LoW Energy (BLE) beacons are used typically to broadcast the URL of the tag. Also, Augmented Reality based devices support wireless communication, the usability of objects with wireless tags, increase. One of major limitation of wireless approach, is the need for button to the easily accessable, thereby reducing the advantages of wireless communication.
Another method of Integrating AR-IOT systems is object recognition which employs the camera to capture the features of object. Now-a-days there is a step rise in the adaptation of object recognition technology , as it possess the ability to replace object codes on object. The main themes of object recognition are twofold : one is scene understanding and other is deep learning. This object recognition technology exhibits a high probability of guessing an object, in a fair – case.
Miraculous Potential can be unveiled by applying technologies to integrate Augmented Reality with IoT!

Augmented Reality in Class Room

Application of Augmented Reality in Educational Sector have seen a steep rise in the recent few days. By inculcating Augmented Reality in teaching-learning process, the basic understanding and perception of the student changes. Consider a Directness of Kinder Garden wants to teach "Elephant" to the kids. Rather than she showing the picture of the elephant and describing it, it would be appreciable if the child visualizes the 3-dimensional view and movement of an elephant. This can readily be brought by Augmented Reality. Students just need to simply possess a smart phone for AR-based education (Now-a-days kids are much well versed in the functionalities of mobile phones than adults!) Nowadays a number of book publishing companies are collaborating with Augmented Reality features. It is also possible to make markers to introduce Augmented Reality in classroom. The marker images serve as a trigger to display a 3-dimensional content over the surface.  Some of the popular Augmented Reality apps which are available to ease the teachers use Augmented Reality to effectively demonstrate the lesson contents are Aurasma and Layar. Aurasma and Layar, both work well on IOS as well as Android devices. Augmented Reality enabled home worksheets will make children more engaging to finish their home works as they are captured by 3-dimensional visualization. There are huge number of resources developed by Indian Society for Technical Education on developing Augmented Reality customized worksheets.

Very soon AugmentedReality is going to be students' horizon in the field of education!

Augmented Reality in Agriculture

Agriculture is an area where research is always with a delay. Most powerful possibility of application of Augmented Reality is to agriculture. Augmented Reality synergizes real and virtual world. The virtual world is generally created by using 3D superimposed graphical pictures taken using camera. With the advent of Articulated Naturality Web(ANW), it is possible to witness the objects captured by camera. as well as virtual images. It is also possible to integrate any necessary information of the object captured by the camera, even if the objects are distant with Articulated Naturality Web. Augmented Reality can readily be applied to agricultural sector to improve food and farming technology. Articulated Naturality Web can readily be adapted by agricultural researchers as placing the Augmented Reality equipments in agricultural research centres turns out to be a cost-effective solution. Augmented Reality can also be applied to optimally place modern tractors and mobile machinery. Augmented Reality along with the capability of GPS, can be employed to track the movement of tractors and other agriculture machinery. It is also possible to append large screen displays, on which the picture of the farm may be imposed providing ways for passage or planning the boundary. Animal Husbandry is another promising application area of Augmented Reality for effective management of farms, cowshed or piggery. Using Augmented Reality, it is possible to easily identify plants using camera and necessary supporting software. By this facility it is possible to predict pests and plan for appropriate pesticide procedures, thereby increasing crop production.
Augmented Reality will soon become an essential feature of Precision farming!

Articulated Naturality Web

The "next big thing" in the mobile world is predicted to be Articulated Naturality Web (ANW). Articulated Naturality Web works with Augmented Reality (AR) as its base, woven with a perfect mix of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The word 'Articulate' means to interact in natural language with visualization. It provides a natural alternative to provide effective interaction mechanism. Articulate is a system that synergies Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Machine Learning (ML) in the domain of data visualization and data analytics. Here occurs the transformation of natural language queries into meaningful representation of data
Articulate represents data analytics and problem solving over direct manipulation of visualization. Articulate refers to Natural Language Processing neatly woven with Machine Learning Algorithms to translate the speech which is in native language. The users' input sentence is parsed into syntactic tree, from which a feature can be efficiently extracted to represent the query. Biased on the extracted set of features, a Supervised Learning Algorithm identifies the integrated visual-analytical task which is employed to produce a Graph-Generation Algorithm in determining and presenting accurate visualization to the user. This greatly reduces the overhead involved in developing a complex user interface.

'Articulate' is a leap towards time, where the computer understands the users' intention as naturally as human brain do!

Adidas goes for Augmented Reality based Shoe

"The foundation of AugmentedReality lies in adding a layer to the real world" says Chris Barbour/Head-Digital Marketing, Adidas Originals. Adidas has recently launched a virtual 3-D world. Users need to sign into Adidas site with their sneakers, which in turn possess a code within its tongue, in front of webcam. Once this action is successfully done, a virtual world appears in front of users, making them capable of navigating through the virtual world, with sneaker as controlling device. According to Chris Barbour/Head-Digital Marketing, Adidas Originals, "We have taken a real world item and added a fantastic world on the top of that". Barbour join hands with Adidas to make this Augmented Reality virtual world come true. According to Barbour, "We are not trying to mimic a real-world look, we have more stylish pop-up for creative approach. The neighborhood is displayed on a 2D computer screen, but you can use your shoes to control the angle and depth of view and zoom-in and zoom-out, giving a 3D-sense of perspective."In the forthcoming months researchers at Adidas has decided to release three Augmented Reality games which include a stake board game where sneaker is the controller to travel to virtual city alleys, a sneaker-based star wars-like game and a music-based game.

The market price of Adidas's Augmented Reality based shoes is expected to be in the range between $65 and $95. Adidas has exploited Augmented Reality in marketing customized T-shirts too. Users can try virtual T-shirt just by holding their smart phones just in front of camera. Instead of physically going to Adidas showroom and taking the shirt from the rack for trial, AugmentedReality helps in trying thousands of "test shirts" just in a fraction of a second!

Augmented Reality in Social Networking

Mark Zuckerberg, Founder and CEO of Facebook in Oculus Connected Conference, demonstrated a new SocialReality Experience. Even if our friends are geographically separated, it is possible to play chess, play cards or even play a sword game with them with the aid of Augmented Reality. It is also possible to take a Selfie with a Facebook friend who is not physically with you. Also it is possible to express your emotions-happy ,sad, anger, disappointment, fear to your Facebook friends by using Sentinel Analysis or by manually incorporating the commands. Mark Zuckerberg depicted Augmented Reality in the conference as, "This is a new communication platform by feeling truly present, you can share undamaged spaces and experiences with people in your life."

Facebook makes the smart phone camera, the first Augmented Reality Platform. Zuckerberg pointed out that “Even if we were a little slow to add cameras to all our apps, I’m confident we’re going to push this augmented reality platform forward,” in his speech at a conference. “As silly as these effects might seem, they’re actually really important and meaningful because they allow us to share what’s important to us on a daily basis”, as said by Zuckerberg. At F8 Conference, Mark Zuckerberg outlined three categories of Augmented Realityas:
· Information - Adding information atop the real world (e.g., directions to a motel nearby and the availability of food over there)
· Digital Objects - Adding digital objects onto the real world (e.g., a virtual posting on a kid's tiffin box)

· Enrichment - Enriching real objects with reviews, filters, edits, etc.
